Well, it matters to us and to those who know best: Leather Care Professionals, Craftspeople, and Artisans who promote the use of natural products on their valuable leather goods because they quite simply outperform other products. Montana Pitch-Blend Products aren't just quick-fix leather lotions, but they are actually beneficial to the leather skin by restoring rich natural oils that work in combination with a long-lasting preservative that helps the leather perform better for you in all kinds of climates and conditions, and requiring much less re-application than other products. Our products are also safe and pleasant to work with.
In contrast, most other leather care products are manufactured with inexpensive oil, wax, petroleum, silicone, or artificial ingredients that don't do anything to nourish or preserve the leather, nor are they very effective at protecting against water, humidity, and the elements most rugged leather goods are exposed to. It is also usually difficult to find out what ingredients are actually used by the manufacturer, but a good product should inform you of what you're buying and we proudly list our ingredients right on our labels - there's nothing to hide.

PINE PITCH has been used for centuries as a powerful natural preservative. If you consider amber and how it can preserve a trapped insect almost indefintely, you'll begin to see why we utilize pine pitch in our leather care products.
Pitch also has natural antiseptic qualities, having been used by native americans for its antibacterial healing properties when treating topical skin injuries. In leather care, this has a special benefit in humid or damp climates, helping to inhibit the growth of mold/mildew that can destroy fibers and ruin the leather prematurely.
Pitch was also used thoughout history to seal canoes and other vessels, protecting them from water-penetration and the decay caused by exposure to the elements. In our leather care products, pine pitch provides excellent water-repellency, greater adhesion, and outstanding performance in climates and conditions where other products fail.
Because of these combined benefits, only a thin application of our product is required to treat your leather goods... A little goes a long way and will last a long time. Nearly every day we hear from customers who tell us ours are the best products for leather AND they are the most pleasant to work with because pine pitch also yields a fresh and mild woodsy scent, which is highly preferred to products with petroleum, silicone, or chemical odors.
MINK OIL is an exquisite conditioning oil with no equal. It is a super-emollient and the most optimal and luxurious choice for rugged leather care above any other oil. It has been used in this way for centuries. Mink Oil restores and maintains leather’s suppleness by replenishing oils lost over time or from exposure. Mink Oil is completely safe for all rugged leather and stitching and provides natural water-resistance and SPF benefits. And only pure Mink Oil is used in our products - we never dilute or use cheaper oils.
NATURAL BEESWAX is the pinnacle of natural waxes. It is naturally antibacterial, virtually impervious to water, and offers an additional layer of protection to our "Pitch-Blend" formula. When blended into our unique Leather Oil the result is our “Leather Dressing” paste: An amazing "3-in-1" Preservative/Conditioner/Water-Repellent that always exceeds expectations, going way beyond other so-called “waterproofers” on the market that often don’t live up to their claims.
